First pets, tall buildings and late evenings
Silicon Oasis is mostly mid-rise and high-rise flats, with the Cedre and Semmer villas at one side. Residents are young professionals, new families and students from Academic City. For many of them this is a first cat or a first puppy. The questions we hear are about vaccine dates, neutering age and what to feed.
A kitten or puppy needs a course of vaccines, not a single injection. The cat and dog schedules start at around 8 weeks, with boosters 3 to 4 weeks apart. The first package is AED 199 and includes a general, ear and fungal examination. Keep a puppy off shared grass until the course is finished.
For urgent problems, the drive is one main road. Call the urgent care line before you leave, so the team is ready for you. The clinic is open until 12 AM. After that, the nurse on the phone tells you whether it can wait until 8 AM or which open hospital to go to.

Living with pets in Silicon Oasis
High floors and open windows
Falls are the typical serious injury for cats in tower communities. Tilt-and-turn windows are a particular risk, because a cat can get trapped in the gap. Fit screens before the cooler months, when windows stay open. Keep the balcony door closed when you are out.
Puppies and parvovirus
Parvovirus survives for months on grass and pavements where dogs are walked. An unvaccinated puppy with vomiting and bloody diarrhoea needs a vet within hours. We test for it in the clinic and have an isolation ward. Carry a new puppy outdoors until the vaccine course is complete.
Pets alone for 10 hours
A long commute means a long day alone. Cats cope if they have 2 litter trays, water in 2 places and a window perch. Young dogs do not cope well with 10 hours. Arrange a midday walker, or choose an adult dog or a cat.
Supermarket food and urinary trouble
A dry-only diet with little water is linked to urinary crystals in cats. Add wet food daily and keep the water away from the litter tray. A male cat that strains and passes nothing is an emergency. Call at once, at any hour.
Landlords and pet paperwork
Many DSO buildings allow pets, but ask for a vaccination record and a microchip number. The vaccination book we complete shows both. Check your tenancy contract before you adopt. We can place a microchip during any consultation.
Evening appointments for commuters
If you reach home at 7:30 PM, a 9 PM appointment is realistic. The clinic is open until 12 AM every day. Evening slots are booked on WhatsApp. Walk-ins are also seen, with sick animals taken ahead of routine visits.
