Why collect medicine from the pharmacy inside the clinic
A vet pharmacy near me or a pet pharmacy near me is worth the drive only if the vet, the file and the shelf are in the same room. Here they are.
Open 8 AM to 12 AM every day
The pharmacy keeps clinic hours, so a course that runs out at 10 PM is refilled at 10 PM if the recheck is on file. The phone is answered 24 hours.
Examined and dispensed in one visit
The dose is worked out from the weight taken that day, by the vet who examined your animal. There is no prescription to carry to another shop.
Monitoring in our own lab
Thyroid, kidney and liver values for long-term medicines are run in the in-house lab before the next supply. The result and the repeat are handled the same afternoon.

Every medicine is priced to you at the desk before it leaves the shelf. A long course comes with a written estimate so you know the monthly cost.

02Overview
How medicines are supplied
A prescription medicine is one that can harm if the diagnosis or the dose is wrong. Antibiotics, pain relief, heart, thyroid and seizure medicines and insulin all belong here. They are dispensed after a consultation, for the animal that was examined. We do not sell them online, and we do not dispense from a photo or a description.
The dose is worked out from the weight taken that day. The label carries your animal's name, the amount, how often and for how many days. For long-term medicines, the vet sets a recheck interval. Blood levels and organ function are checked in our own lab before the next supply.
Some items need no prescription. Wormers, flea and tick products, ear cleaners and supplements are in this group, along with the veterinary diets used in diet plans. Staff will still ask the species, the weight and the age. A product that is safe for a 30 kg dog can kill a cat. Prices are given at the desk, because they depend on the product and the pack size.

What the pharmacy dispenses
Pet medicine in Dubai splits into two groups. The first needs an examination first, the second is sold at the desk after 3 questions about species, weight and age.
- Prescription medicines after an examinationAntibiotics, pain relief, anti-inflammatories, steroids, heart, thyroid and seizure medicines and insulin. Dispensed for the animal seen at the consultation, with the dose on the label.
- Dog tick and flea treatmentChewable tablets, spot-ons and collars, chosen by weight band and by whether a cat lives in the same home. Dog tick and flea treatment in Dubai runs for all 12 months.
- Cat flea treatmentOnly products labelled for cats, at the matching weight band. Cat medicine in Dubai has to be chosen with care because permethrin dog products cause seizures in cats.
- Deworming for cats and dogsTablets or spot-ons by weight, every 3 months for adults and more often for kittens and puppies. Bring a stool sample if worms were seen.
- Dog ear infection medicineEar drops are dispensed after the vet looks in the ear, because a torn eardrum changes which drop is safe. The nurse shows you how to apply the first dose.
- Skin and ringworm treatmentMedicated shampoos, antifungal tablets and skin creams after a skin check, often with a lab test to name the cause first.
- Eye drops and long-term medicinesEye drops, thyroid tablets, heart medicines and insulin with a recheck interval set by the vet. Repeats are dispensed while the recheck date is current.
- Veterinary diets and supplementsKidney, urinary and hypoallergenic diets used in diet plans, plus joint, skin and probiotic supplements. Sold at the desk.
- Travel medication and paperworkEnough of each medicine to cover the trip plus 1 week, in the original pack, with a copy of the prescription for the airline and the border vet.
04On the day
From examination to the first dose
Medicines are handed over at the end of the visit, with the instructions explained in person.

Examination
The vet examines your animal and records the weight. Tell the vet about every other medicine and supplement being given, including anything bought abroad.

The prescription
The vet explains what each medicine is for, how long it is needed and what side effects to watch for. You hear the price of each item and can ask about alternatives.

Dispensing and label
Each item is labelled with the dose in tablets or millilitres, the times and the number of days. Check the label against what the vet said before you leave.

A demonstration
Ask the nurse to show you how to give the first dose. Tablets, liquids, eye drops and ear drops each have a technique, and it takes 2 minutes to learn.

Recheck and repeats
For a course of a few days, the recheck confirms it worked. For lifelong medicines, the vet sets how often your animal is seen before more is supplied.
Call before you drive over for a repeat
Send your animal's name and the medicine name on WhatsApp. The desk checks the file and replies with whether it can be dispensed today and the price.

A parked car ruins medicine
A closed car reaches 60°C or more in summer. Most medicines are stored below 25°C, and insulin at 2 to 8°C. Go straight home from the clinic. Do not leave the bag in the car while you shop.
Ticks most of the year
The brown dog tick thrives in the UAE climate and carries tick fever. Prevention runs for all 12 months here, not only in spring. Products are chosen by weight, and some dog products are toxic to cats in the same home.
Human medicines from the cupboard
Paracetamol can kill a cat. Ibuprofen causes stomach ulcers and kidney failure in dogs. Pharmacies here sell both over the counter. Neither should be given to a pet without a vet's instruction.
Flying with medication
Carry medicines in the original labelled pack, with a copy of the prescription. Ask for enough to cover the trip plus 1 week. Insulin travels in hand luggage, in a cool pouch, never in the hold.
Medicines from your home country
A brand you used abroad may have a different name or strength here, or may not be registered in the UAE. Bring the box. The vet will find the local equivalent and check the dose.
Late collection
The pharmacy keeps clinic hours, until 12 AM. If a course runs out in the evening, call first so the file can be checked before you drive over.
06Do not wait
Call us the same day if this happens on a medicine
Stop the next dose and phone. The phone is answered 24 hours. Bring the pack with you.

- A swollen face, hives or sudden scratching
- Wobbliness, tremors or unusual sleepiness
- Black, tarry stools while on pain relief
- Your animal has eaten a whole pack, or another pet's medicine
07Afterwards
Giving medicine at home
Finish the course of an antibiotic, even if your animal looks well on day 3. Stopping early is how resistant infections start. If a dose is missed, give the next one at the normal time. Do not double it.
Some tablets must not be crushed or split, because the coating controls how they are absorbed. Ask before you hide any medicine in food.
- Set phone alarms for the dose times
- Follow a tablet with a little water or food, since a dry tablet can lodge in a cat's gullet
- Store medicines in a closed cupboard, away from the cooker and the window
- Keep each animal's medicines separate and labelled
- Ask us how to dispose of unused medicines. Do not flush them
