The examination is AED 120, and everything the vet might need next is in the same building.

Blood, urine and PCR samples go to the in-house laboratory, and digital x-ray and ultrasound are down the corridor. Most routine results come back before you leave.

02Overview

What the fee covers

The consultation is the vet's time and a full physical examination. It covers weight, temperature, heart and lungs, eyes, ears, mouth, skin, lymph nodes, belly and joints. You leave knowing what the vet found, what it is likely to be, and what the choices are.

Tests and treatment are separate. If the vet advises bloods from our own lab, or an x-ray or ultrasound, you see the price in writing first. You can say yes to all of it, to part of it, or take the estimate home. Medicines are dispensed from the clinic pharmacy at the end of the visit.

Come for a consultation when something has changed and has not settled in 24 hours. Eating, drinking, weight, breathing, walking and toilet habits are the things to watch. Come once a year when nothing is wrong, usually with the cat or dog vaccine visit. From the age of 7, make it every 6 months.

Annual vet check up in DubaiA pet health check once a year for adults, usually with the cat or dog vaccination. Weight, teeth, heart and skin are recorded so next year has a baseline.
Senior check-ups from age 7Every 6 months, with a blood and urine screen advised for the kidney, thyroid and liver values that change before signs appear.
Kitten and puppy check upThe first visit at 6 to 8 weeks, then monthly until 16 weeks. Worming, weight, umbilical hernia, heart murmur and the vaccine plan.

Skin and ear consultationScrapes, tape strips and a lamp check on the same table. Ear discharge is examined under the microscope before any drops are dispensed.

A consultation usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. Bring anything that helps the vet see the pattern.

Before you come
Note when the problem started and what changed at home. Take a video of a cough, a limp or a fit, because it rarely happens on the table. Bring the vaccination book and any medicine your animal takes.

Arrival
Your animal is weighed and the nurse opens the file. Cats stay in the carrier and dogs stay on the lead in the waiting area.

History
5 minutes
The vet asks about food, water, toilet habits, travel and other animals at home. Answer with numbers where you can. Two bowls of water a day says more than drinking a lot.

Examination
10 minutes
The vet works from nose to tail and tells you what is normal as well as what is not. Ask questions as they come up.

What Dubai adds to the list

Heat, from May to October

Flat-faced breeds and heavy-coated dogs overheat on a 10-minute walk at 40°C. Panting that does not slow after 5 minutes in the cool is a reason to call, not to wait.

Ticks and tick fever

Brown dog ticks live through the UAE winter and breed in gardens and kennels. A dog that is tired, off food or bruising easily may have tick fever, which is confirmed by a blood test.

A cat you took in from the street

The first check covers age, sex, ear mites, fleas and ringworm. The vet may advise a blood test for FIV and FeLV. Keep the new cat apart from your own until it is done.

New to the UAE

Bring your animal's records from home, even in another language. The vet will map the vaccines to the local schedule and tell you what Dubai Municipality registration still needs.

Indoor life

Most cats here never leave the flat. Weight gain, boredom and urinary trouble are the results we look for. Tell the vet how many litter trays and how many cats you have.

Can I walk in without an appointment?

Yes. Walk-ins are seen every day from 8 AM to 12 AM, in order of arrival, and urgent cases go first. A WhatsApp booking gives you a fixed time, which helps in the evening when the clinic is busiest. If your animal is in distress, call on the way so the team is ready when you arrive.

What should I bring to the first visit?

Bring the vaccination book, any previous test results and the medicines or supplements your animal takes. A photo of the food bag helps, since the vet will ask about brand and amount. For stomach problems, bring a fresh stool sample in a clean pot. Cats travel in a closed carrier and dogs on a fixed lead.

How often does a healthy cat or dog need a check-up?

Once a year until the age of 7, then every 6 months. A year for a cat or dog is roughly 5 of ours, and kidney disease, heart murmurs and dental disease start quietly. The annual vaccine visit includes an examination, so for most adults one visit does both. Puppies and kittens are seen monthly until 16 weeks.

Will the vet run tests without asking me?

No. Every test, injection and procedure is priced in writing and needs your agreement before it starts. The vet explains what each test would tell us and what happens if you wait. In an emergency, first aid starts at once and the estimate follows as soon as your animal is stable. You can stop or change the plan at any point.
